Sharks embrace high AFL numbers Print E-mail

East Fremantle Sharks coach Shane Woewodin says the number of AFL listed players in his squad will present a challenge this season. With 22 AFL listed players, the highest number of all WAFL clubs, Mr Woewodin will have to manage players coming in and out of the team all season.
 

“The harsh reality is that we don’t know until the last minute who will be available and who won’t,” Mr Woewodin said. Getting the team right required a careful balancing act, he said.

Rhys Palmer is the Round Three Rising Star Nominee Print E-mail

Former East Fremantle player Rhys Palmer (Fremantle Football Club) is the Round Three NAB AFL Rising Star nominee. Rhys was one of Fremantle's best in its 14-point win against West Coast last Saturday. A head wound suffered in the first quarter that required nine staples didn't slow him down. He racked up 24 possessions, 17 in the first half, playing in the midfield. The 19-year-old left-footer followed-up an impressive 22 possession debut against Hawthorn last week.

A hard working ball winner, Rhys was Fremantle's first selection (seventh overall) in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft. He hails from one of our Junior Clubs in Bullcreek-Leeming.
